Defense Strategy WoW Tips for Strand of the Ancients
WoW Tips Strategy #1 - Make an orderly retreat. A successful Strand of the Ancients defense must stay in front of the assault.
WoW Tips Strategy #2 - Bottle up Yellow gate. The layout of Strand of the Ancients allows teams to concentrate their defense at Yellow gate. Special attacks and slowing effects should be combined with the withering fire of the gate guns. Even if the Yellow gate falls, the sheer amount of damage from the team should make the area impassable.
WoW Tips Strategy #3 - Use the guns. Each gate in Strand of the Ancients has two guns. To start, all of the forward gate guns should be manned. Each of the second wall gates should have one gunner. Occupy positions behind the front line so that when the attack breaks through someone is there to stop it. When one of the first wall gates, Green or Blue, falls the gunners at the other gate need to retreat. One gunner should race to the empty gun at the gate above the fallen position. The attackers will again face a gate with two guns. This is one of the fundamental WoW tips for Strand of the Ancients defense: have players assigned to retreat to specific guns, so that the opposition never attacks an undefended gate. Gunners on broken gates should keep firing until enemy tanks are past.
WoW Tips Strategy #4 - Get them on the beaches. In Strand of the Ancients, defending teams, with a high dps composition, can attack. Destroying tanks and creating confusion takes lots of time off the clock. This is a risky strategy. To be effective, the whole team needs to be engaged on the front line. Any breakthrough will be hard to stop before tanks reach the keep doors.
WoW Tips Strategy #5 - Protect the workshops. Strand of the Ancients attackers must capture workshops to get additional tanks. To do so, an attacker must spend 30 seconds uninterrupted casting at the possession flag. Defenders can interrupt by attacking or using the gate guns at Purple or Red. Don’t get wrapped up fighting at these flags. Tanks can push past these skirmishes and get behind the defense.
WoW Tips Strategy #6 - Let attackers have the final graveyard in Strand of the Ancients. For the attack, it is worse than useless. Resurrected attackers actually have to run away from the fight to secure weapons.
Every good Strand of the Ancients defense will make use of the first two WoW tips and achieve good results. The remaining WoW tips should be evaluated based on the makeup of each Strand of the Ancients team. One of the sneakiest WoW tips is to get together a bunch of friends and enter the battleground as a group. These premade teams communicate, anticipate, and fight better together.
